Clearwater Progress front page article
When you think of the word missionary, what comes to mind? Trips to foreign countries? Seeing new cultures? How about missionaries in your own backyard? Recently five youth from the Clearwater Valley area had such an opportunity! Amy Manley, Bethany Fuller, Miriam Fuller, Jack Stevens, and Caroline Stevens served as summer missionaries through Christian Youth in Action sponsored by Child Evangelism Fellowship(CEF). CEF is an 80 year old, non-denominational, worldwide, Bible centered organization. Earlier this spring, these youth began their training in preparation for their mission trips during the summer. The training included 6 intensive days of schooling at our local ALACCA Bible camp followed by 5 days of in the field supervised practice. The rigorous training was presented by certified CEF staff and volunteers from all over Idaho. After completing the classroom training, the team headed to north Idaho to put their skills to work. The team of summer missionaries conducted 5 Day Clubs (like Vacation Bible School on steroids). Because of the extensive training, these youth were fully capable of running the 5 Day Clubs (5DC) by themselves. From teaching the Bible lessons and memory verses to leading the high octane games, the CYIA youth took total charge of the clubs from beginning to end. Over the course of the summer, five 5DC were conducted by the summer missionaries throughout Central and Northern Idaho. The youth grew in so many ways as they served in leadership and teaching roles. One mother stated, “I can’t believe the amount of growth the kids did this summer. It is so good to see them step up in leadership roles.” Another parent commented, “It was a great experience for my children to be involved in something of substance that really matters.” The CYIA youth will be continuing to use the valuable, life-long skills they learned this past summer throughout the school year at local Good News Clubs, churches, and other organizations. When asked what she took away from her experience this past summer, Miriam commented, “I gained more confidence in sharing the salvation message with others. We had to learn how to work as a team, which was not always easy. It was a blessing to share with the kids in the clubs.” Bethany nodded in agreement and added, “I really enjoyed working with my team members and getting to know people from other areas and churches. It was amazing to see God work through our team members and the kids. I am really looking forward to being a summer missionary with CYIA next summer.” If you think you would like to join the CYIA team next summer, contact Beverly Wisdom at 208-935-7996 or visit the CEF Top Ten website at: idahoceftopten.weebly.com. |

CYIA SUMMER MISSIONARIES/5 Day Clubs
I wish it was a "100" Day Club!
Fourteen Christian Youth in Action young adults chose to spend one week of their summer training to share the Gospel with children as CEF Summer Missionaries.
Amy, Bethany, Miriam, Jack, and Caroline, our summer missionaries in our top ten counties, proved to be a dynamic team. They worked well together and brought smiles to faces of children as they shared their love for Jesus. Through this one team of amazing young people 127 children heard the Gospel, sang songs, memorized Bible verses, and played games. These teens counseled many children and led some in a prayer chosing to put their faith in Jesus.
This team made such an impact that when I encouraged Aram, a young man from north Idaho to enjoy the rest of his week in his 5 Day Club, he quickly responded, “I wish it was a ‘100’ Day Club!”
How much more could we impact our chapter, our state if we had many such teams leading 5 Day Clubs around the state? Please be in prayer with us asking for 100 summer missionaries to reach many more children through the 5 Day Clubs across Idaho. We are already excitedly planning our CYIA training and the 5 Day Clubs!
